ToggleAccording to Reports, the AJK Government lowered the cost of flour and energy and accepted the requests of the Jammu Kashmir Awami Action Committee (JAAC).
A notice published in Rawalakot states that the cost of a 40 kg bag of wheat flour has dropped from Rs 3100 to Rs 2000, a reduction of Rs 1100.
The government has also given its approval to lower the cost of electricity.
Domestic customers using up to 100 units would be taxed Rs 3 per unit, and those using 101–300 units will be charged Rs 5 per unit, according to the notification. There will be a fee of Rs 6 per unit for users who use more than 300 units.
The cost per unit for industrial clients consuming up to 300 units is Rs 10, and the cost per unit for those using over 300 units is Rs 15.
Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq, PM AJK Speaking during a press conference, Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq of Azad Kashmir stated that PM Shahbaz had promised him during their phone discussion yesterday night that the region’s flour problem will be resolved in a day.
The prime minister acknowledged the state of affairs and stated that the democratically elected administration in Azad Kashmir is cognizant of the mandate from the people.
He made it clear that the government does not, and has never planned to, intend to put an end to the people’s nonviolent protests.
Despite the imposition of Section 144, more than 100 police officers in Azad Kashmir were hurt, and one of them died. The prime minister stated that efforts are being made to resolve the problems by the Azad Kashmir coalition government.
To address the problem, government ministers were in consultation with the Joint Action Committee. The Prime Minister further stated that the federal government provides 300,000 tons of wheat to Azad Kashmir each year. He said that the government of Azad Kashmir had effectively stopped wheat theft and smuggling.
Previously, 23 billion rupees were sanctioned by Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif to address the issues facing the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The sanction was granted today in Islamabad during a special meeting presided over by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. It assessed the state of affairs in AJK at the time.
The main political leadership as well as the prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir attended the meeting.
AJK Demonstrations
A wheel-jam and shutter-down strike across the region resulted in violent battles between police and rights movement activists in Azad Kashmir, which left at least one police official dead and numerous more injured.
Sub-inspector Adnan Qureshi, who was dispatched to Islamgarh to disperse a Muzaffarabad gathering organized by the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Several cars, including a magistrate’s automobile near the Poonch-Kotli route, were destroyed by the rowdy protestors. Additionally, all of the AJK’s markets, trade centers, offices, schools, and dining establishments were closed.
