ToggleFarewell to PTCL Charji: Understanding the Decision
Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has recently announced cessation of its PTCL Charji dongle service across more than 25 towns across Pakistan. The Charji dongle has been replaced by Ufone’s 4G Blaze gadget.
PTCL has shared its official explanations of the reasons behind its decision to end Charji-related services. The discontinuation is happening because PTCL’s 20-year Wireless Local Loop (WLL) license to run devices that resemble Charji is coming to an end. This license was given by PTCL through the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in 2004, however, it has since expired because WLL technology has been deemed obsolete.
PTCL is now promoting Ufone’s 4G Blaze network to replace Charji that offers faster speeds, better reliability, and a greater number of advantages.
A spokesperson for PTCL Group said:
It is worth noting that those living in Azad the cities of Jammu as well as Kashmir will be able to continue enjoying continuous Charji services. Those looking to avail the discount deal can visit their local joint shop using their Charji device to upgrade to the latest Ufone Blaze device.
As a reminder, the Ufone Blaze 4G device is currently being offered at a 50% discount as compensation. The price has been dropped from Rs. 5,500 to Rs. 2,750. It is unclear how long the offer will last.
