The Pakistan cricket team is gearing up for a rigorous two-week training camp for T20 World Cup, and this time, they’re partnering with the Pakistan Army. The focus? Fitness and preparation for their forthcoming international cricket commitments, including the much-anticipated T20 World Cup. Let’s dive into the details:

Camp Details for T20 World Cup:

  • Dates: March 26 to April 8, 2024
  • Location: Kakul, near Abbottabad
  • Objective: Enhance physical and mental strength, team building, and overall performance on the field.

Players Involved:

  • A total of 29 players have been selected by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for this intensive camp.
  • Among them are Mohammed Amir and Imad Wasim, who have recently reversed their international retirement decisions to make themselves available for the World Cup.

Why the Army?

  • The camp is organized in collaboration with the Pakistan Army.
  • It aims to elevate fitness levels, agility, leadership, and strategic thinking.
  • The goal is to ensure that the players are in peak condition to face the challenges ahead.

Previous Encounters:

  • This isn’t the first time Pakistan’s cricketers have trained at Kakul.
  • Back in 2016, the national team, captained by Misbah-ul-Haq, conducted a camp there before flying to England for a Test series.

Upcoming Fixtures:

  • Pakistan is scheduled to host New Zealand for five T20 matches next month.
  • Additionally, they’ll play T20 series in Ireland and England.
  • The T20 World Cup kicks off on June 2, jointly hosted by the West Indies and the USA.

Daily Routine

According to sources, the players will go through three physical training sessions each day during the 10-day camp:

  1. Morning Session (6am – 7am): The day kicks off with intense physical drills.
  2. Midday Session (8am – 12pm): A four-hour session focuses on endurance, strength, and agility.
  3. Evening Session (5:30pm): The final session of the day ensures players maintain peak fitness standards
